The Woolstore was the final design piece which completed the Kingsborough Village puzzle. The development as a whole provides a positive contribution to the Community and Kingston’s urban fabric, creating diverse typologies of accommodation, which add to the suburbs’ rich history.
The design of The Woolstore was a collaborative process between DNA Architects, our in-house Interior team and the client, who put their trust in us by taking a bold step to create a unconventional, yet familiar design for the foreshore skyline. It screams Canberra, with recycled red bricks but also lends itself to a home nestled in gritty Brooklyn.
The Woolstore is a modern take on a traditional brick building from yesteryear, playing on the notion that it was an original building on the site restored to 21st century luxuries, yet the last building to be completed within the Kingsborough precinct. This multi-residential project was thoughtfully designed and constructed with the end user in mind.
After going through the process of designing the The Woolstore, we were given the opportunity to carry this vision through to the interiors, with the clear understanding of the intent and how to tailor the interiors for the end user.
The goal for the residences were to create spaces which encompass the New York Loft style of living, drawing the natural light into the unit with glazed partitions, that encase the winter gardens and enhance the generous sense of space. The rich materials merge the exterior palette with a certain softness that was brought in by the wall to wall sheer curtains.
